Oh Noes! An Addition to the “Misprints on Scrapbooking Products” List!

And this time it’s on a product from my beloved SIMPLE STORIES!!

Clee over on Two Peas posted a photo of this amazing mini album she made for a friend using the Simple Stories SN@P! LINE. It wasn’t until she completed it that she noticed the typo on a journaling card:

Man, oh man. That’s not even something you can cover with an embellie or add another letter to fix, can you? I feel so bad for her. She says she’s contacted Simple Stories on their Facebook page to point out the error. It will be interesting to see if they compensate her in any way {hope so}.

Well, even though Simple Stories is my favorite line in the world, and as a MEMORY WORKS consultant, I sell bunches of it … in all fairness, this latest scrapbooking product typo must go into the HALL OF SHAME :( It’s like sending one of my own kids to the principal, LOL.

Have you found any other scrapbooking product typos (not already listed in my other post)? I’m thinking with all the new products coming out from CHA, there might be some fresh stuff, LOL.

GREEN Sn@p! album

I couldn’t find sample projects using the Brown or Green albums so I’ll close with this photo from CHA when the Simple Stories “Sn@p!” line was introduced AKA the day I found the new love of my life <3

I bet you’re in love too. Am I right? If you’d like to see the rest of the FUE-JUS “Sn@p!” line, pics of it all are posted HERE and you can order it HERE.

These albums are going to be hugely popular, especially because of December Daily and Project Life. So if you’re thinking about buying one (or several), I wouldn’t wait. I won’t be surprised if they sell out.

I just ordered RED and TEAL “Sn@p!” albums for myself. The red one I’ll use for my first attempt at December Daily. The teal one I’m not sure yet but the color is so pretty, I’m going to come up with something. I’ll probably scrapbook a trip with it, also using the rest of the Sn@p! line. Those happy colors will be so fun to work with.

Scrapbooking Aquarium Photos

I recently went to the aquarium and had such a blast taking photos of all the amazing animals!

My favorite part was the seahorse exhibit; the two photos above the flamingo are seahorses. What amazing little creatures those are! I’ve never seen them up close before.

I know to you great photographers out there, these aren’t the most technically perfect shots … but I think I did pretty good with my little point-and-shoot while chaperoning a class field trip, LOL!

These are only about one-third of the photos I would now like to scrapbook. The question is: How?

Do you ever feel not worthy of scrapbooking an event because you *LOVE* the photos so much? It’s not just the bright colors and gorgeous water, it’s the capturing of God’s amazing creations on film. I want to do them justice and also capture my amazement as we saw each new thing, kwim? I’m not sure how best to do that.

One thought I’m having is to put them on plain black cardstock so the colors will pop and the photos will be the main feature, what you really want to look at. But then what? Handwrite the journaling in white pen? Do computer journaling on white cardstock and use journaling strips? How do I get some color in there without distracting the eye from the photos? Gah. I don’t know!

Another thought is to make a mini album from them, since there are so many photos. If I do 12×12 layouts, it would take several pages. Plus, a mini album would set them apart and make them “special.”

How would you scrap these photos? Have you scrapped aquarium photos before and how did you do it? Are there any scrapbooking lines you would suggest I use? Thanks for your help!

ETA 3/27/11: I’m going to save this layout for inspiration … and thank you to all who’ve given me ideas. I really appreciate it!

This one is from Julie at JUST A WEE BIT BUSY:

I think this is the exact look I want to go for … black background, bright colors, and a paper line I already have (“Snorkel” by Cosmo Cricket). Thanks Julie! I’m liking the mini album idea, too, that so many suggested. You guys rawk.

Okay, So I Lied…

I didn’t meanta, I swear.

Actually, I guess what I did was break a promise to myself. I said I wouldn’t do any scrapping until I had my scrap space totally organized. This ‘project’ as I so lovingly call it has been going on for over a month. And I just. couldn’t. stand it.

I broke down and made a mini-album last week. It took me this long to make my confession. A co-worker had mentioned that I should bring in some pictures of my kids after Halloween. Well, I really slacked as a Paparazzi Mom this Halloween and the few photos I did take came out pretty badly. There were the dark blurry ones of the kids with their cousins and costumes. And the few of the pumpkins glowing in the dark. And the back of my kids’ heads while they bobbed for apples. Just nothing really great. I mean, I’ll still scrap them cuz I’m anal like that.

But instead of taking those crummy pics to show my co-workers, I decided to make a 6×6 album of our trip to the pumpkin patch this year. We went to a new place and the photos, which I printed on my NEW EPSON PICTUREMATE DASH!!!!…..

…came out really, really great. The colors were gorgeous…all those bright oranges, yellows, reds, and greens. The sky was super blue, and I actually posed some family pix and got a good candid or two of each kid. So when I was off work for the Veteran’s Day holiday, I whipped up a quick mini. I felt like I had to sneak over to my scrap desk and pretend I wasn’t really there. See, I’ve gotten a LOT organized but still have much to do. I’m probably 75% finished and that’s my problem….I always get about this far and I get bored and impatient and, WELL, I get such a freakin’ Scrap Jones that I can’t help it!! Do you feel my pain? The problem is, I start scrapping or card making and before I know it, the place is a mess again and I never really finished it in the first place. I was determined to break that cycle this time.

That’s why I made the rule: I will NOT scrap or craft a single sliver of paper until I get my space totally and completely organized. Then I blew it. I gave in to the call. I scrapped… What can I say, paper junkie needed a fix.

And, by the way, the girls at work loved the album and seeing the photos. It made me feel good and I have low self-esteem, so this helped ;-)

Okay, so I need to regroup. I need to slap the back of my hand and say, “Bad girl! No scrappy!” and get back to work. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem, right? So I’m good now…

A Yummy New Line from Basic Grey: Two Scoops

You know, I need to find out what’s behind the name of the company, Basic Grey. Because when I see their scrapbooking lines, Basic and Grey are two of the LAST things on my mind! Here is their new line called Two Scoops…

BG 2 Scoops

Here are some threads on 2PEAS and CKMB where this new line is being discussed. The 2peas thread has links to all the samples I’m showing below. Here is what Ms. Kelly Goree from Basic Grey says in her 2peas post:

“Hi, everyone! I just wanted to take a minute to introduce you all to BasicGrey’s newest line, Two Scoops! It’s yummy, sherbet-inspired color palette really lends itself to all types of layouts from birthday to Valentines to Wedding or anything in between. For me, though, it’s the adorable embellishment stickers that come with the collection pack that really makes the line. And just you wait – it gets better….this line will also have some gorgeous stamps, a rub-on book with such super-cute phrases, and much more! This line will be shipping soon to a store near you, so be watching. I bet you can’t stop at just Two Scoops!”

I love about 80% of this line. If they would please stop using that weird flower on everything, I would be 100% happy! (See the Flower Swash Stamps?? That big flower in the top middle…). That same flower was in the Infuse line too, which was the only thing I didn’t like about that line. Time for a new iconic flower, Basic Grey! (Oh, lordy, please hear my plea so I can be totally infatuated with BG again). Do YOU like the goofy flower they use now?

Other than that, I LUH-HUH-HUV this new line by Basic Grey. Even the names are cute and oh-so-sherbet-y. My favorite items are all of the rub ons, the Sweet Sentiments Stamps, the Glazed Brads and the Chipsticker Alpha. Let’s hear your reviews – give us the scoop (sorry, it had to be said…).
