Is Scrapbooking Coming Back to QVC?!?! And Some HSN Scrapbooking, Too

This was posted on Instagram by Erin with DCWV (Die Cuts With a View), makers of scrapbooking papers and products! {You can see their stuff on Amazon HERE and they sell a lot of it at Michaels, too}.

She refers to a 1-hour craft show on QVC coming 03-05-14. So maybe not “QVC Scrapbooking” per se, but at least a crafting show and a step in the right direction – woot! I know many scrapbookers like me have missed the “good ol’ days” of QVC Scrapbooking, when we would call in sick to work . . . erm, take a planned vacation day . . . so we could sit glued in front of the TV and see all the fabulous ideas and products.

Some years ago, QVC quit doing scrapbooking shows (which we couldn’t understand, because most of the items would sell out). Then HSN ramped up their scrapbooking and LISA BEARNSON was eventually added as an HSN Scrapbooking hostess, which I was very happy about because I LURVE her. I was on a scrapbooking cruise with her back in the day and, let me tell you, she’s one of THE nicest and most genuine people you will ever meet.

So I really do hope that scrapbooking is coming back to QVC. The QVC PROGRAM GUIDE only goes through March 2 at this point so I can’t confirm the March 5 thing.

On top of THAT good news,

On 02-12-14, HSN Scrapbooking will be featuring the new Cricut Explore. In fact, according to someone on the DT for Anna Griffin, “Anna Griffin is launching the new Cricut Explore and some free fun party images from Anna come with it.” HERE is the announcement on Anna’s site. She has a series of Cricut Explore sneak peeks on HER BLOG if you’re intrigued.

According to the HSN PROGRAM GUIDE, all of the Papercrafting shows on 02/12 will feature the Cricut Explore. Since I was recently given an amazing SILHOUETTE CAMEO, I have no interest in buying one but will check out at least one episode to learn about it.

On 03-24-14, Lisa Bearnson will be introducing two new PROJECT LIFE kits on HSN and other new things.

This is from LISA’S BLOG recently, where she also discussed what a bust her last appearance was on HSN:

Thanks for all your comments about my last HSN show! Hopefully you didn’t miss out on the amazing savings on Project Life items. I got a note from the buying team yesterday that said you all know a good deal when you see one! Almost every Project Life product has sold out but these four items (as of yesterday)! I so hope you were able to get one of the Cinnamon Project Life kits!

So sorry about the 5-7 p.m. hours. HSN had to make a last minute switch (it had nothing to do with crafting products) and I tried to be cheerful about the change! Yes it’s true that some of my items were sold out, but there were many that I was so excited to showcase. It really was beyond any of our control.

Stay tuned for March 24th–the next big craft day. I have tons of new, new, new including a two new Project Life kits! Please be assured that HSN is still very dedicated to the crafting market.

I’m glad to hear HSN isn’t abandoning us scrapbookers! After the canceled and moved shows last time, I was beginning to wonder.

Here’s to a happy weekend, with visions of TV scrapbooking shows dancing in our heads!

QVC Huge Cosmo Cricket Kit at Tuesday Morning

I’m very sad that QVC doesn’t do scrapbooking shows anymore. Very, VERY sad :( Okay, I had to get that off my chest first.

They do still have lots of SCRAPBOOKING ITEMS on their website, like THIS huge lot of COSMO CRICKET goodies. I remember seeing this as a TSV (Today’s Special Value) a long time ago. I wanted to get it back then because I lurve me some CC, although I passed. Ah, the memories! Watching the great LISA BEARNSON do the presentation, showing us the fabulous projects we could make with it.

These days, you can find this same kit at TUESDAY MORNING. Instead of paying the retail cost of $48.50 plus $7.97 shipping, you can pick it up for a mere $14.99. There are two versions: pink and blue, plus a Christmas version. Some photos of the pink one are HERE.

I went to Tuesday Morning looking for this kit, because of course the Peas had been talking about it. I told myself that if and only if they had the blue version would I buy it. I searched the shelves high and low, pawing through their scrapbooking/craft section, and was unable to find it … at first. I did eventually find it and part of what took so long is that it comes in a brown cardboard box and I guess I was looking for something fancier, LOL. They only had one and guess what color it was??? UH HUH, it was blue. Suh-weet!

Here are some photos of mine:

If you’d like this Cosmo Cricket kit, too, I hope you’re able to find it at your Tuesday Morning! Or that you’ve beat me to it, and already have one ;-)

What Do Lisa Bearnson and “So You Think You Can Dance” Have in Common?

Absolutely nothing except that they both have upcoming shows I’m excited about!

Okay, LISA BEARNSON…Nope, unfortunately she’s not on QVC SCRAPBOOKING anymore :( Btw, I REALLY miss her on that show, don’t you? The other hosts try really hard but they just don’t have Lisa’s superior knowledge of scrapbooking products and how to use them. Plus, I miss her playfulness with David Venable.

Here she is with one of her daughters showing their seat belt burns from an accident they were in recently ~ thank goodness they were okay! Something tells me that without those seat belts, they wouldn’t have been….

Anyhow, I found THIS show that she’s going to be on (September 2 and 9, 2009), if you happen to get BYU-TV. You may not think you do, but look through ALLLLLL your cable or satellite channel listings and you might find it. On my Dish Network, it’s on Channel 9403….yeah, it’s way down there. It’s the same channel where I watch SCRAPBOOK MEMORIES, which has some new 2009 episodes. I haven’t watched in a while because I kept getting reruns of older shows but today I checked and am recording an upcoming episode that says 2009. Yippee skip! Love that show…

Okay, back to Lisa. The show is called “Latter Day Profiles” and the info says, “The co-founder and editor of Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking magazine, Lisa Bearnson.” Info also tells me this show originally aired on 6-24-09, so it’s fairly recent. Let’s check it out and then come back and compare notes, okay?

While searching around for shows to record, I also found something for fans of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. On Wednesday, 9-2-09, Fox is showing a special episode with “fan fave routines from previous seasons.” The only bad thing is it’s a mere 1-hour long. WTH? I can’t wait to see it and hope they show some different routines than what were on the SYTYCD finale. There are SO many past routines I love. I could watch them over and over. Then the following Wednesday, September 9th, the new season of SYTYCD premieres, followed by the long-awaited second episode of GLEE! This is a show that won me over the first episode when they performed “Don’t Stop Believin’,” by Journey, my all time favorite band. {If you see me on the scrapbook message boards, I’m always “journey fan.”} Check out a Glee preview HERE; the Journey song starts around 2:45.

So, ya gonna try and catch Lisa B. and/or the SYTYCD episode?

QVC Scrapbooking 12-31-08

I’m very happy to correct my statement in THIS post where I said there didn’t seem to be any more QVC Scrapbooking shows scheduled for 2008. Yay, I was wrong-o! As I browsed the January CK, I saw a cardstock insert advertising their show on 12-31-08 at midnight EST. So, see, I was almost right, LOL! The ad shows some Shutterfly goodies and a free calendar that I’m personally not interested in, but here’s the LINK if ya are.

While I was over nosing around at QVC.com, I found THIS link to a message board discussion about whether David Venable will be co-hosting with LISA BEARNSON on the 12/31 show. HERE is a link to the QVC program schedule for December 31, including the following times for “Creating Keepsakes Paper Crafting”:

12am to 1am
3am to 4am
3pm to 4pm

*These times are EST; please adjust for your time zone. They give a pretty generic description but all these slots say they are Lisa Bearnson, so coolio. The only mention I could find on LIsa’s blog was from her 12/9/08 entry: “P.S.S. I’m getting ready for a big QVC day on December 31st. Shutterfly and Creating Keepsakes have teamed up for some amazing projects. Stay tuned again for more information on these products.” By the way, if you want a handy reminder of these shows, you can go to their Program Guide and follow the instructions to have reminders sent to your e-mail. Yeah, they got our back.

This is from the “Look Who’s Scrapbooking” QVC blog:

“Scrapbooking in 2009
Dec 22, 2008
Hello Scrappers!

We know you’re getting ready for the holidays and looking forward to the New Year. It’s the perfect time to get organized…and buy more scrapbook supplies! So be sure to tune in on December 31 for three hours of Creating Keepsakes and an exciting Today’s Special Value® item. There’s plenty more to come in 2009 — new trends, brands, and one-hour designer shows. We’ll have some new exciting launches, too, so make sure you check our program guides and the website for more details. And be sure to share your thoughts on our message boards as well! Tell us what new finds you’re loving in the market so we can scope it out at the upcoming CHA tradeshow in February 2009.

Sincerely,
QVC Buyers”

Since I’m on the West Coast, I’ll probably watch all the shows live but I’m gonna’ set up my Tivo now just in case. I hope they have some good stuff and not just all the Shutterfly biz. I’m sorry, but to me, “photobooking” is not “scrapbooking” and I think it’s bad for the industry. But that’s just me, LOL!…Do you plan to watch?

Some Updates….

It’s Sunday night, and I just got done watching Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. That Sally and Calista, they had me a-booin’ and a-hooin’ again tonight. When Nora is telling Kitty how she thought she finally saw her as more than just the mom who drove her to ballet lessons, and Kitty shows her the book dedication…all to Nora, who she couldn’t have written the book without. {Sniff, sniff}. Mother/daughter relationships are so complex and deep…that show really knows how to capture it all.

Okay, well, just wanted to give an update on some of my past posts….

The RUMMAGE SALE: It was Saturday morning and, wouldn’t you know it, not a drop of rain here in months but when does it decide to rain???? Saturday morning, and only Saturday morning. Not a drop of rain except during those rummage sale hours. But it went okay anyway, I guess. It was a community rummage sale, where you pay for your space and that money goes as a fundraiser. I was stationed next to a friend of mine, so we gabbed all day between making sales. I’d say I sold about 1/3 to 1/2 of what I took out there, even some of the scrapbooking stuff. One gal came back three times, LOL! The biggest sale from SB stuff was an SEI 8×8 album in a box, it was from a CKU class, and was all pre-done, just pop in your photos and add the journaling. I sold it for $12, although just the materials were worth more than that. But the color scheme was something I was never going to use so why not? It went to a happy home, a young high school or college age scrapper who said she would scrap more if she had time. I hope the purchase helps her get a quick album done :)

Another success story {follow me on this, I promise, it will make sense}: So, on the other side of my space was a lady selling homemade chicken taquitos and pork and chicken tamales. OMG. That was just cruel to make me smell that yumminess all day! {Mexican food is my ATF, All Time Fave}. About half way through the morning, I ate my little Tillamoo cheese and non-fat Yoplait yogurt. Fighting like a real warrior against giving in to that Mexican food. Then DH says, “I’m taking off, there’s a game on so I’m heading home. Please bring a mess of those taquitos home for me.” At first, I’m like “WTF??”….then I realized hey, there’s my excuse to buy ME some taquitos, too, LOL! So I ask the lady, “Are you going to be here til the end, because I want to buy some taquitos to take home?” and she says, “Yes.” So at the end of the day, I still had about 2/3 of the clothing I had put out for sale and was dreading bagging it all up and taking it to AmVets. The lady from the taquito place comes over and is looking through all the clothes (they were kids clothes) and I can tell she’d like to have many of them but is only setting aside a few. So I said, “You know, you can just have all those clothes if you want them,” and her face totally lights up. Then she says, “I’ll give you food in exchange.” I mean, was that the Deal of the Century or what? Too funny….

So, all in all, it was a good day. The kids ran around and played with their friends, I got to chat with a friend, offload some things I didn’t need, and I got to eat taquitos! And we were blessed by God’s rain which, even if you’re trying to hold a rummage sale, is a beautiful, blessed thing.

Now, to update my SCRAPBOOK STORAGE post: Gosh, this is me at my most indecisive. I measured my room and figured out how many more Store In Style cubes, doors, shelves, etc. I would need to make the perfect set-up. Let’s just say the number of cubes was in the double digits, but still cheaper than buying an Ikea Expedit and having it shipped (since I don’t live anywhere near an Ikea), or any other scrap storage options I could find. I found a great online site to order them from since Mike’s no longer carries them. And there they’ve sat in my Shopping Cart for over a week. I finally got over the price tag, but then started imagining the day 4 jillion boxes were dropped by UPS on my doorstep. I truly think DH would bust a gut, maybe even an aneurysm, over that one. I know this from experience, that he doesn’t care about the what’s and why’s and ‘but honey, I got such a great deal on it!’. All he knows is his wife went mad buying scrap stuff and he would be none too happy. So then I thought, what if I just buy a few at a time? But, no, it’s still UPS dropping packages here, still busting guts, still aneurysms, still not good. So my latest idea hit me when I was at Mike’s last week trying to spend my 40% coupon on something I actually needed. Duh, storage cubes, nimrod! I bought one of the cubes that they now carry, I think the brand name is Jetmax. I got the 3-drawer one like in this picture:

They are regularly $30, only $18 with the coupon. Now I’m going to see if I can make it work with collecting a bunch of these babies to create my Scrap Storage Nirvana. They are slightly smaller than the SIS cubes and since I have an odd number…well, it’s hard to explain without drawing a diagram, but I’d still need to buy a few SIS cubes. Then hopefully I can fill in the rest of my wall with the Mike’s ones. I’ll just buy one a week with my coupon, and spend actually less money than buying the SIS cubes online. I have a little windfall cash set aside just for this project and I need to get going on this before the vacuum cleaner or washing machine breaks (that would be SO my luck). Just remember, my well-made decisions can spin on a dime, but that’s the plan…for now!

Finally, to update my QVC post, I did watch most of the QVC scrapbooking shows and no, I didn’t buy a single thing. Not because I didn’t want anything, merely because….no money, no shop-ee. Times like this, I wish I were Katie Holmes…{wink}.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything scrappy?

QVC Scrapbooking…Almost Here Again (Finally!)

So I guess, so far, the rumors of CK relocating to HSN are not true. They do indeed have a QVC day coming up. Above is the TSV (Today’s Special Value) and it comes in 2 color ways (color ways…impressive huh?…I picked that up from watching QVC…). You can order it now if you don’t want to miss out, or can’t watch when it airs. Lisa Bearnson shows this and other QVC items on her BLOG, and HERE is the link to the TSV on the Creating Keepsakes site.

Tim Holtz will also be THERE. I know several ladies who are already dreaming about seeing their Timmy, LOL. I liked the advice on the AMR message board…watch Timmy on QVC and see what he does with the stuff, then order all your Timmy products from Stacey at AMR.

Stephanie Barnard from Inque Boutique will also be on QVC…here is where she BLOGS about it. They will offer 2 sets of stamps (with 90 stamps in the main set!). One will be on-air and one will be off-air (you can order from the website) and she says quantities are limited. Ya might wanna pre-order if you’re interested. Thanks ANNE MARIE for the heads up!

So, about the TSV…I love SEI but I’m not a hybrid/digital girl, so I’ll be passing on this one. Will you be snatching it up??

Is Lisa Bearnson Leaving QVC for HSN?

Read about the rumor HERE and HERE. The only comment I have so far, without personally seeing the HSN ad on the CK site, is that maybe CK doesn’t control and/or monitor specific ads that flash on their site. For instance, if you allow ads on your free website, blog or message board, my understanding is you can request that they pertain to a certain topic (in this case, crafts or scrapbooking) but you, the site owner, don’t get to approve the ads on a case by case basis. I assume ad placement is done by computers not humans, who wouldn’t know that it would be a big NO NO to put an HSN ad on the CK website…because it might start a rumor or sumthin’…

What do you think…could the rumor be true, and would you be glad or sad?

National Scrapbook Day 2008

Yes, it’s this weekend!! If you think I’m making this up, go to the National Scrapbook Day WEBSITE. See, nanner nanner, it’s a real holiday not just some delusional, triple latte induced brainstorm of the Scrapbook Obsessed. Sheesh…

They have listed some NSD events and resources. They also have NSD logo merchandise…this was my favorite – a dog tee shirt.

Are those the cutest pups ever?!? Are you going to put your pooch in a tee? Yep, me neither. If I approached Dallas with a “doggie tee shirt,” he would give me his withering look of disdain, you know, the same one he gives me when I tell him “Quit laying in the sun so much. Get a job, for Pete’s sake!” or “Hey, I’m tired, feed yourself tonight….and don’t give me the ‘I have no opposable thumb’ excuse, because it’s wearing thin.” So, you see, Dallas and I have established the kind of relationship that does NOT include the wearing of doggie tees just to make mommy proud.

Okay, back to NSD…As befitting a holiday of this magnitude, there are lots of scrappy happenings on TV and online. All of which I PERSONALLY will miss, because I’m holding a scrapbook event IRL. But you all just go on and have fun without me…I’m not bitter…really…

QVC has some scrappin shows on. Here’s the schedule for PACIFIC TIME…if you need a different one, click on the QVC link above and change it to your timezone.

Thursday, 10pm-midnight, Scrapbooking Day Celebration
Friday, 6-7am, Creating Keepsakes Magazine – Paper Crafting
Friday, 8-9am, Anna Griffin – Elegant Crafting
Friday, 2-3pm, Scrapbooking Day Celebration
Friday, 3-4pm, Creating Keepsakes Magazine – Paper Crafting

HSN appears to have absolutely nothing scrapbook-related going on. They sure missed the boat on that one. Don’t they know that the way scrappers celebrate any major holiday ~ especially one right after the first-of-the-month payday ~ is to SHOP??? But here’s their stupid LINK anyway, if you want to double-check their program guide. Or maybe you want to know when you can buy some hair extensions by Jessica Simpson, I don’t know, whatever blows your dress up…

Members from CKMB are doing a meetup IRL!! That is so cool…the deets are HERE and HERE. {Thanks for the 411, Michelle/Shelle’s 2 Girls!}. I just love when message boarders meet up in real life, don’t you?

The All Moments Remembered MESSAGE BOARD is hosting an online crop on Saturday 5/3 from 1-9pm PST (4-12am EST). Their new KIT is being revealed tomorrow 5/1 and the anticipation is killing everyone over there. I think PATTI might hurt someone if they don’t show her already! Here’s a sneak of the May kit:

I got these from Jadadog/Tracy’s BLOG, and you can find more peeks on the other DT’s blogs: LINDA, JENN, and DEBBIE. I’ve seen all the peeks and it looks like one super gorgeous kit. And the Design Team does such a fabulous job of showing you ways to use the kits, you just can’t lose.

I can’t believe I’m missing THIS of all the AMR crops, because one of my favoritest-ever designers will be coming by for a chat, AND she’s a guest designer for the May kit. Look what Stacey (AMR owner) wrote on her BLOG:

“Don’t forget National Scrapbook day is May 3rd. We will be having an online crop. Lots of challenges and wonderful prizes to give away. Christine Middlecamp will be joining us to chat and show off what she has designed with our May Kit.”

I mean, come on!! CHRISTINE MIDDLECAMP?!?!!?!? How unfair can life be? At least I can go to the message board on Sunday (when my event is over) and read all the posts. I just love that girl… Here’s the POST where she mentions the AMR crop.

As for me, I’m hosting another crop but this one is different so it’s been a lot more work. Instead of holding the 2-day crop at a hotel like I usually do, it’s at a large barn/clubhouse that a friend is “loaning” me, LOL. BUT…I have to set up the tables, chairs, tablecloths, extra lighting, etc by myself, in addition to my tables of Memory Works merch. And I provide snacks and drinks, although this place has a full kitchen so that part will be easier than the hotel which just has a sink and counter in the meeting room. Then to add even more…I’m including my first ever Scrapbook Garage Sale, where ladies can bring all their unwanted supplies and sell them at rock bottom prices. Seller happy, shopper happy…Erika happy!! It’s a win-win-win. Anything not sold is going to a great charity, and NOT back in to clutter up scrapbook spaces. It’s Friday and Saturday from 9am-9pm. Luckily, my mom will be here to help…and crop. Wish me luck! And what are YOUR plans for NSD?

Lisa and David on QVC: More Than Friendly Play?

Sniff…sniff…uh oh! Do you smell another controversy? Just kidding, no big deal, but check out THIS thread from 2peas. Lisa B.’s little sister even chimes in. I’m so mad at myself! I was watching this episode on Tivo today but got distracted with something else. I heard the exchange between them about a slap but didn’t pay attention and think I deleted the episode when I was done. Wish I could see it for myself. Can’t say who’s right or wrong…did anyone see it?

QVC Scrap-travaganza: What Did You Buy?

I was at the crop all weekend, then slept on and off today (still recovering from surgery and SO shouldn’t have done that crop…oh yes, regrets, I’ve had a few). Anyway, I’ve only watched a few of the QVC presentations that I tivo’d. So far, the only thing I’ve ordered is the 7 Gypsies Acylic STAMPS.

Here is one of Lisa’s sample layouts made with the Family journaling stamp. That’s the one that sold me!

7g layout qvc

They are so cool, can’t wait to get them! They remind me of their 97% Complete Tags which I just got and have been using a lot for journaling. One of the ‘episodes’ I watched was with Lisa Bearnson and David Venable, who I usually love watching because they crack me up. But they were off their mark this time, I thought, and seemed so frantic or something. Wonder what was going on there? Anyway, I was so proud of my restraint, but then I see threads like THIS on CKMB and now I’m clamoring to get back to the television.

What did you buy? Go ahead and confess here, I won’t tell your hubby, I promise…

Just Because It Brings Back Good Memories…

vote

See, even this is scrapbook-related…the reason I watched it in the first place was because Lisa Bearnson said one time on QVC that it was her favorite movie, and she often had it on in her studio while she scrapped.

Anyone else love this flick as much as I do?
