Scrapbook Organization: Going for Broke, Day 1, 10:00 am

I’m going to keep a blog diary as I go along for the next 3 days.

I was up early today … anxious to get started! I even dreamt about organizing my room, lol. I had to do some paperwork first but it’s 10 am and I’m off and running. I’m going to move stuff mostly to the dining room next door.

Things that are going to take some time to go through before they come back into my space will go to the garage (my memorabilia and some old photos are a huge mess right now, for one thing). I’m hoping most of what I put in the dining room can be back in the scrap room by the end of today. I hate leaving a mess in other parts of the house but we’ll see …

Here’s what I’ve accomplished so far:

- Folded up boxes from recent purchases of printer, laptop, and foot pedal (for my transcription business). This printer is giving me fits and I might return it so the box is in the garage for now. Other boxes to the recycle as I’m happy with my laptop and pedal.

- Found 2 new baskets for my {extensive, embarrassing, but oh so loved} Thickers collection. One basket had my “recently purchased/inspiration stuff” that I keep on my desk. Now that’s all sitting in a pile on my desk. Must find another home for it. Well, better yet, by the end of the 3 days, all that stuff will be put away and I’ll have an empty basket other than a few things I want to use soon. The basket that my Thickers were in also included all my other letter stickers, sorted by color in manila folders, standing up in the basket. Now that basket is 1/2 empty and, since I don’t see myself buying many more non-Thickers letters in the future, I should probably downsize that storage and free up the large basket for something else. The good thing is I have lots of empty baskets and bins to choose from :)

MY EMBARRASSING THICKERS COLLECTION(there are also faux-Thickers in there by Miss Elizabeth’s from the Dollar Tree)

MY SAD “OTHER THAN THICKERS” LETTER STICKERS (Yes, I used to have almost all of those Thicker packs jammed in this basket, too. Yike)

- Put my Heidi Swapp paper folder back together and on the shelf. I took it to a recent crop, so all the papers were pulled out and a mess.

- Also from the recent crop, my crop bags were strewn everywhere. I had managed to get them unpacked but not put away. I collapse the smaller bags down into the huge one for storage. So, got that done.

- For now, I’m going to take all office-related stuff to the guest room. That’s a whole NOTHER issue! Taming the paper tiger. I need to get a handle on that for sure. But for today, I’m only going to worry about the scrapbook portion of the room.

- Took a big bin of MEMORY WORKS stock and catalogs to the dining room. There’s not much I can do about this bin. It’s big but it’s organized and necessary. Same goes for a tote full of MW stock. My MW things have always just sat on the floor. I wish there was somewhere I could put them away. Maybe as the room progresses, I’ll find some free space. Hey, a girl can dream.

BIN OF MEMORY WORKS STOCK

Okay, I’ll check in again later today with a progress report! I’ll post some photos then, too.

ETA 8/10/11 10:45 pm: Added photos that go with this post :)

Memory Works: Smash Book by K & Company

It seems the hot item of Spring 2011 (erm, now “Summer 2011″) is the “Smash Book” by K & Company. What in the heck is a Smash Book, you ask? Check this out:

{There is music so check your volume … fyi} …

From the EK Success “brand buzz blog“:

Already a hit before it has even released (coming this spring!), SMASH is an exciting new program from K&Company that takes scrapbooking back to its roots. Simplistic, on-the-fly, and with no rules and no special crafting ability needed, you can Smash your everyday life between the pages of our contemporary-style Smash Books.

An ultra-convenient combo glue pen/journaling marker comes attached to each book so it’s always at hand when you need it. Now, how cool is that?!

So, what do you Smash? Well, it doesn’t have to be a life event, just the special little moments and mementos of your day—some of that stuff in your junk drawer, for example. A snapshot, a ticket stub from that movie you loved, a newspaper clipping, a magazine snippet, a cardboard coaster from a favorite restaurant, your child’s first crayon doodle…get the idea? Smash it, jot a note or add a caption sticker, and go!

Here is a video of the Smash Book set-up at CHA back in February 2011 from Noell Hyman at PAPERCLIPPING.COM:

{By the way, I’m listening to the latest Paperclipping broadcast while I blog. CHECK IT}.

As you can see, this isn’t your traditional scrapbooking, but a cool twist, a fun new way of keeping your memories … unstructured, unfiltered, unencumbered by convention. For some of us, Smash Books may bring back memories of our childhood or teenage years when we kept books with doodles, ticket stubs, photos, quotes, and random writings.

One of the reasons these books are so eagerly anticipated … is that they were supposed to be available in April 2011, but K & Company had a manufacturing delay. They weren’t sure when the Smash Books would be ready to ship, then came out with projected dates in May … exact date dependent on when each retailer receives them.

On their awesome SMASH STORIES BLOG, they then did two things that somewhat appeased the masses: They did a giveaway of the mini-Smash Books (I was lucky enough to get one, thanks to my friend Abby tipping me off!), and they did weekly giveways of a full-size Smash Book each Monday.

I’ve heard comments on the message boards that, because of the delay, some people are “so over” the Smash Books. They got tired of waiting and lost enthusiasm, wanted them for grad gifts and it’s too late now, etc. I understand the frustration and wish the delay wouldn’t have happened. I do think it cost K & Company some sales … but think in the long run, this will still be a VERY popular product.

I plan to get one … or several. I don’t even know what I’m going to use Smash Books for yet … I just know that I must have them, LOL. The accessories are SO cute. Sure, you could make your own version of a Smash Book but I think this version is super cute and unique … also, I assume, archival safe … which a composition book, etc. you make on your own might not be.

A few ideas I have for my own Smash Books are:

Everyday stuff ~ Quotes, random photos, ticket stubs, grocery lists, sticky notes (I *live* for sticky notes!), observations, etc.

Kids book ~ Funny or interesting things my kids do or say, milestones, photos that won’t be scrapped with another event, etc.

Weight loss ~ I just started a weight loss journal, a plain lined notebook about the same size as a Smash Book. But if I get a Smash Book soon, I may re-start it and include photos, measurements, before/during/after photos, recipes, menus, etc. The cute stickers and add-ons could make a quite boring job a bit more fun. And when (not IF) I reach my weight loss goals, I’ll have a cool little book to look back on. A cool PRIVATE little book. Ahem.

What would you do with a Smash Book?

Here is a sample Smash Book from the Smash Blog:

I am SO happy that Memory Works will be carrying a bunch of the K & Company Smash Books line. You can find it on my website HERE and place an order soon. (As of this blog post, availability is expected on May 20, 2011!!!).

I’ve known for quite some time that Memory Works was going to carry Smash Books and contemplated taking pre-orders for them (like I’ve done for the very popular SIMPLE STORIES lines). But I was too nervous, given the delays they’d already had and unpredictability of when Memory Works would actually have them in stock.

According to our online Product Availability list, Smash Books are due at Memory Works on May 20, 2011 … a mere 2 days away. So *now* I feel comfortable posting about them. I hope you’ll consider ordering your Smash Books and accessories from me! To entice you, I’m going to post photos of the different colors available and a peek inside to some of the pages ~ so you can pick the best style for your project …

Do you have a favorite? I think I’m leaning toward the PINK if I could only choose one.

Okay, I’m going to shut up about the Smash Books now :P

Memory Works: New Catalog & New Simple Stories!

So there’s that old saying, “Good things come to those who wait.” It came to mind when I was thinking about the fact that the new Memory Works catalog is now available. But because I can’t do anything the normal or expected way ~ and because I like to make you smile ~ I had to introduce our new catalog with this quote instead:

The things that come to those that wait … may be the things left by those that got there first.

If you watch AMERICAN IDOL religiously like I do, I’ll bet you can give a guess who said that friggin’ doozy. Yep, Mr. STEVEN TYLER! The man is full of these funny comments and sayings that have me wondering if he’s drunk or just plain cray-cray. Which I really don’t care, since his voice absolutely rocks and he’s a doll to all the contestants.

I mean, what’s wrong with a little crazy/drunk on national television, right? Never hurt nobody. Welllll, I take that back. There was the little matter of Chris Brown and the BROKEN WINDOW … but I digress.

STEVEN!

But back to my initial point: THE NEW MEMORY WORKS CATALOG IS AVAILABLE!

You’ll find the entire Memory Works product line inside, which features a sampling of the latest-and-greatest supplies in the industry showcased in this striking, full-color, 48-page catalog! Customers will appreciate it as an invaluable scrapbook resource.

New Pink Paislee

New Cardstock

It’s taking all the strength I have not to place my order right now for a pack or two of these catalogs (or as we oh-so-professional consultants like to call them, “catties” :). As much as I love to look at all our new items ONLINE, I’m an old-fashioned girl who likes to hold a paper catalog in my scrappy little hands.

However, I’m restraining myself from placing my catalog order because if I can wait a mere 5 more days (until April 25), I can order THIS at the same time … HOLLAH!

It’s the new SIMPLE STORIES “100 Days of Summer” line that I’ve been waiting for since BACK HERE.

i want it i want it i want it i want it NOW!

I can see on my MW website that not only will we carry the “100 Days of Summer” Collection Pack, Designer Cardstock Pack, Signature Elements, Flash Cards, Fundamentals Stickers, and Expression Stickers (click on BACK HERE above to see pics/prices for all of these items) …

I leave you today with another Steven Tyler bon mot:

Well hellfire, save matches, (bleep!) a duck, and see what hatches.

(Oh man, I am SO going to lose customers by posting that, aren’t I? …. )

Simple Stories: Collection Kit vs. Separate Items

I wanted to explain the difference between what comes in the Simple Stories 12×12 Collection Kits vs. the other items you can buy separately. I’ll use the upcoming “100 Days of Summer” line to explain.

The 12×12 COLLECTION KIT contains:

{6} sheets of 12×12, double-sided Designer Cardstock paper
{1} 12×12 sheet of Fundamentals cardstock stickers
{1} 12×12 sheet of Expressions cardstock stickers
{30} cut-apart, double-sided Element pieces (sizes 4×6, 6×8, 4×4, 2×12, 4×12, and 6×12)
BONUS: {6} 4×6 transparency photo overlays exclusive to the Collection Kit

In other words, you get EVERYTHING in the kit.
But you can also buy most of the items separately*
* Except for the {6} 4×6 transparency photo overlays because they are exclusive to the Collection Kit

The cover of the Collection Kits show each of the items inside:

The top half shows the cut-apart Element pieces. They come in {6} actual sheets that are double-sided so they’re represented on the cover as 12 items (6 double-sided sheets = 12). Hope that makes sense :)

The top half also shows the Fundamentals and Expressions stickers and the 4×6 transparencies, along the upper right-hand side.

Then the bottom half shows the {6} sheets of Designer Cardstock paper; again, it’s {6} sheets that are double-sided so you see all 12 sides.

To summarize: In the 12×12 Collection Kit, you get all of the items and you get the 4×6 Transparencies.

If you want only select items from the kit, or if you want to order extras of particular items, we also sell them separately.

This holds true for all three existing Simple Stories lines ~ Life Documented, ele.ment.ary, Destinations ~ and the forthcoming 100 Days of Summer. (I’m taking PRE-ORDERS now).

I hope that explains what exactly is in the Simple Stories 12×12 Collection Kits vs. the items you can buy separately. If you have any questions, please leave a Comment here or e-mail me: scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com.

Memory Works: Simple Stories New Lines … We’re Getting Closer!

If you’ve been waiting for the new Simple Stories lines ~ Life Documented, ele.ment.ary, and Destinations ~ you know that I’ve been saying they were predicted to be available in late February or March. Well, late February kinda slipped right by me … but then March slapped me in the face and woke me up, LOL! I got to wonderin’ about Simple Stories …

… So I posted on the MW consultant board asking for an update on the release date. One of the owners, Amber, posted right away to say that they’ve been very busy at the MW offices.

She said the consultants can expect an e-mail on Friday (tomorrow, 3-4-11) with all of the details on the new Simple Stories!! But “basically the new collections will be available for consultants to purchase from the website sometime on Friday and we will begin shipping next week!”

So if all goes as planned, it sounds like those of you who have placed PRE-ORDERS with me should be able to go on MY WEBSITE and place your actual order TOMORROW!!!! {Geesh, can you tell I’m a might excited?} And you are pre-PAID, baby! As soon as I see your order, I hit “approve” and off we go.

Note: Pre-orders are now closed. As of Friday, March 4, you can order Simple Stories items straight from my website with no need for a pre-order :)

I have a busy weekend … ironically, I’m leaving Friday for a weekend scrapbook retreat ~ HOLLAH! But I’m taking my laptop with me and will keep you updated, m-kay?

I’m not just excited for YOU ~ although I AM very excited for you ~ but I’m excited for me because I’m ordering at least one set of each new Simple Stories kit and accessories for myself. I have the “first edition” kits of Life Documented and ele.ment.ary … and LURVE them … but they have been re-issued per se with more elements this time.

And one thing I’ve found to be true about Simple Stories: You can never have too much. All of the papers are double-sided so the options are endless, not to mention the style that’s so versatile and colors that look good with pretty much any photo you put near them. With the divided page protector method, I love using these kits to get lots of scrappin’ done in a shorter amount of time.

And if that’s not enough … Destinations is completely new so I’ve never even seen it in person before. I know I’m going to love it, because it retains the Simple Stories style I already adore … and it adds the fun new topic of travel, along with some black accents that are going to look rockin’ with my plethora of Disney photos and other travel photos.

People, can I get a “squee”?

“SQUEEEEEE!!!!”

Ta ta for now … talk soon :)

If you pay for a pre-order, I’ll e-mail you when the time comes to place your actual order. Sound good?

Here is how the pre-orders will work:

I’ll collect and process payments until the release date(s). When the kits and additional items become available, I’ll e-mail you with instructions on what to do then.

{Which will be to log into my Memory Works WEBSITE, place the pre-paid for items in your shopping cart, enter your shipping address, and submit your order. I will automatically be notified that your order has been placed and, instead of having to wait for your payment to be received, I’ll be able to approve your order for processing immediately … assuming your payment has been received and processed already}.

{But don’t worry about that part right now, LOL}.

To place your pre-order now, e-mail me at scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. Please include:

1. Item(s) requested and cost
2. Shipping address
3. Total due including items, tax*, and shipping/handling**
4. Payment method – check, money order, or Paypal
~ I prefer Paypal, and will e-mail a Paypal invoice to you ASAP
~ If paying by check or money order, I’ll e-mail you back with my address. Please be aware that I can’t approve your order until the check/MO have been received and cleared.

* Sales tax amount is based on the tax rate for the address you’re shipping to. There is a really cool sales tax rate lookup and calculator HERE.

** Please see THIS post for information on Memory Works shipping/handling information and costs.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns :) If you know of anyone who plans to order Simple Stories “Destinations”, “ele.ment.ary,” or “Life Documented,” please send them my way!

Memory Works: Simple Stories NEW “Destinations” Line … and “ele.ment.ary” and “Life Documented” too!

Yeah, this gets kind of confusing even to me, and I’m a MEMORY WORKS consultant, LOL!

Here’s the scoop … and I’m gonna’ go back to the beginning:

Memory Works is a direct sales company from Utah (kind of a “mom and pop” if you will) who for al has sold scrapbooking products from a variety of popular companies, including BASIC GREY, MY MINDS EYE, BO BUNNY, PINK PAISLEE, and more.

I joined Memory Works as a consultant in February 2007, when all of my local scrapbook stores closed and I was no longer able to get my fix of the “latest and greatest” products … so I decided to become a Memory Works CONSULTANT to support my habit (yes, I am purposely making a drug reference … ‘cuz it’s all so addicting!)

In 2010, Memory Works began producing their OWN line of products called Simple Stories. Here is the philosophy behind it, from the SIMPLE STORIES BLOG by Amber Crowell, the co-owner (with her husband Kevin Crowell) of Memory Works:

About Simple Stories
A Simple Solution

As a busy mom and scrapbook business owner who is passionate about telling our story, I became frustrated, stressed and guilty with the hobby that I loved so much. Instead of scrapbooking as a creative outlet or something that brought me joy – it started to become just another job on my to do list. It seemed I never had enough time to scrapbook. I put creative pressure on myself to make every page perfect or to compose the most eloquent journaling. I felt guilty for being so behind, and was overwhelmed with so many photos.

In fact, as my children grew it become disheartening as they wanted to see photos or look through albums. I had piles of half finished layouts, photos still on my computer and incomplete albums – but nothing to really tell our story!

With all my supplies, years of scrapbooking, and passion for preserving our memories I had very little to show for it. Thanks to Stacy Julian and Big Picture Scrapbooking, I started storing my printed photos in divided 4×6 page protectors in a 12×12 album – just so my children could view our photos before I scrapbooked them. I’ll never forget the first time we looked through our “album” together – It was amazing to see our children laughing, smiling, and remembering. No patterned paper, no embellishments, no perfectly designed layouts – just our memories and our story. At that moment I realized what my hobby was all about.

I loved the concept of simply inserting photos into divided page protectors, along with decorative scrapbook elements, for quick and easy scrapbooking and instant gratification. However, I wanted an even simpler solution for my busy life. Instead of cutting, cropping, embellishing and creating my own handmade elements from scratch I wanted a product that featured stylish, pre-designed element pieces in just the right sizes (to fit those page protector pockets perfectly!)

That’s where the Simple Stories concept was born and we’re thrilled to now share our solution with other scrapbookers: A system that would allow them to balance their hobby with their busy lives and products that would help them share their memories in a simple, yet beautiful, way! It was a dream come true to finally be able to launch our Simple Stories concept in January 2010 when we introduced our signature kit Life Documented.

Needless to say, Amber is SO not alone and the Simple Stories concept took off mightily, with crazy-good sales for the first SS line, “Life Documented.” I was one of those anxiously in line to purchase this amazing kit, as I planned to use it for my first go at PROJECT 365.

With all the buzz about Life Documented, I decided to take pre-orders for the kit so that it wouldn’t sell out before I and my customers got one, LOL. And since it was already January and many of us were using the kit for a project that started January 1, everyone wanted their Life Documented kits ASAP. The pre-orders worked out famously, as we all got our kits quite quickly and, after anxiously awaiting them, were so impressed with the quality and design of the product.

Note: If you go to the Simple Stories section of my WEBSITE currently, it does show a listing for the (original version) of the Life Documented kit. However, it has been out of stock for a while and, to my understanding, will not be re-stocked. But don’t despair … a new and improved version is on the way!
.
.
.
.
Now fast forward to Summer of 2010. Based on the huge success of the Life Documented kit, Memory Works decided to launch a second kit in the Simple Stories series. It’s called “ele.ment.ary” and it uses the same simple scrapping approach but this time to make School Days albums or just to make layouts for all those school photos.

As MAY FLAUM from SCRAPBOOK UPDATE showed HERE, with the Simple Stories lines, you don’t have to stick to the divided page protector method … you can also use the products on regular layouts, card, and other projects. One really cool thing about ele.ment.ary is that, unlike the bright-bright colors of most school lines, it’s kind of distressed and mellow looking … which means it looks GREAT with old school photos. Now I’m not calling you “old” but you could certainly scrapbook some of YOUR school photos with this, couldn’t you? {If it makes you feel any better, I’m “old”, too, LOL}.

I could tell that “ele.ment.ary” was going to be popular, so I also took pre-orders on it. Again, all went very well … my customers and I were able to get our kits and accessories quickly. And again, we were very happy with the quality and design of the ele.ment.ary products.

If you’re interested, there are still some (original version) ele.ment.ary kits available HERE along with some of the matching accessories. For the reason I say “original version,” you have to stay tuned, silly …
.
.
.
.
Now we’re in 2011 and it’s time for yet a third Simple Stories line … “Destinations.” This new line will be perfect for scrapping those vacations, past or present. I know that when Memory Works asked its consultants and customers what topics they would like to see covered by Simple Stories, “vacations and travel” was at the top of the list. Ask, and you shall receive!

I think Destinations is going to look beyond awesome with Disney photos, with it’s mix of primary colors along with black touches to bring out the “Mickey” and “Minnie” in all of your photos. It’s also, like the other Simple Stories lines, so stinkin’ versatile that you’ll be able to use it on many, many layouts. I’ve started scrapping all our trip photos using the divided page protector method, for three reasons:

1. On vacations, I take TONS of photos. If I were to scrap my usual layouts for all of the photos I want to include, my travel scrapbooks would take forevah! to complete, and they would weigh more than a cruise ship.

2. I want my travel books completed quickly, while the memories are still fresh for my journaling, while the ticket stubs are still handy, and we can enjoy reliving the trip and sharing it with others right away.

3. It’s so easy! Develop photos, slip ‘em in the pockets, journal on a 4×6, pop that in, add some pretty paper and accents … DONE. Not as fancy as usual but DONE.

Anyhow, I was one of the many who asked for a Simple Stories travel line, so of course I *need* to order some Destinations! For one thing, I have a stack of Disney photos just waiting to be scrapped. I also think this line will look great with pictures from our Seattle trip, don’t you? Not to mention school field trips and other random events throughout the year.

All 3 Simple Stories lines have a unique, kind of colorful, kind of shabby look that so many of us love. I know that many people, while they love the concept of PROJECT LIFE by BECKY HIGGINS … just don’t care for such a clean, linear, precise look in their scrapbook products. Well, if that’s the case, be sure to check out the Simple Stories line. I think you’ll really like it.

So where does that leave us today? Why, anxiously awaiting the release of – as my post title indicates – the NEW “Destinations” line and ~ could it be? ~ a re-release of the popular “ele.ment.ary” and “Life Documented” lines!

Stay tuned … more information is right around the corner :)

{I mean, really, STAY TUNED! My next entry will tell you about how to PRE-ORDER “Destinations” … and some other things …}.

DESTINATIONS COLLECTION KIT

12×12 DESTINATION ELEMENTS {6}
You can cut these into 4×6 blocks and just pop them into a pocket page protector, or use them on your regular layouts. Use them for page titles, journaling, layering, etc.

If you use them in the divided page protectors, they’re perfect because they’re double-sided. So you get double-duty from them, with both sides showing.

Here are some more sizes, like 6×12 blocks and 2×12 strips. These fit easily in the other page protector configurations we offer in the Multi-Pack page protectors or, again, you can use them however you want on a regular layout. Very versatile.

4×6 TRANSPARENCY PHOTO OVERLAYS {2 of each 3 designs}
* Exclusive to Collection Kit

12×12 FUNDAMENTALS STICKERS

12×12 EXPRESSIONS STICKER SHEET

Here are some sample pages using the “Destinations” line by Simple Stories. These must’ve been done by Amber. So you can see the owners of Memory Works, Amber and Kevin Crowell, and their kids having fun at Disney. Too cute!

So there it is. Be honest … what do you think? If you’re as exciting to order this new line as I am, please make sure you subscribe to my blog. I’ll be posting updates and will make sure to blog when it’s available to order … I hope you’ll place your order through me :)

Man, Memory Works does it again. I am SO thrilled about “Destination” and hope you are, too :)

Memory Works: My Latest Haul :)

The new MEMORY WORKS catalogs came out recently and I needed to order some. What a perfect excuse to “not let that shipping cost go to waste” and buy some scrapbook pretties for myself.

Here’s everything fresh out of the box.

From left to right …

Memory Works 2010 Fall Catalog: I love how they featured SIMPLE STORIES on the cover. It has been a big seller so, as a Memory Works Consultant, I appreciate it being featured so prominently.

CRATE PAPER “RESTORATION” SEW BRADS: I have the Restoration THEME SET and CHIPBOARD; been wanting these, too. This is my favorite new line from CHA-Winter 2010.

FANCY PANTS “TRADITIONS” RUB-ONS: I have to admit I pretty much bought these because of the blue bird holding the ornament. I just couldn’t resist that image for some reason.

AMERICAN CRAFTS CARDSTOCK SWATCH BOOK: Memory Works used to sell only Prism cardstock, then made the switch to American Crafts CARDSTOCK. I think it’s been a good switch. The AC cardstock is thicker and has that great linen texture like BAZZILL. I also like the wide ranging color choices we have, and all the packs of mixed or single colors.

AMERICAN CRAFTS “ROBIN EGG” THICKERS: These are chipboard and super cute with the tiny white polka dots on them. They’ll be great for spring or Easter layouts.

AMERICAN CRAFTS “DEAR LIZZY” SHINY FLAIR: I loved this whole introductory line by ELIZABETH KARTCHNER. It was so unique, pretty, and special. I already have the theme set and was glad to add the flair to my Lizzy K collection :)

RANGER “GLOSSY ACCENTS”: I love using this on embellishments to “bring them to the next level.” They make everything look so much more special, kwim? Like on my recent “Wicked” layout … I painted some naked chipboard Thickers with black acrylic paint but then they looked so flat. Put on some Glossy Accents and ~ VOILA!~ lookin’ good!

{Forgive the wavy look, LOL! I took the pic while the letters were drying. Once they were dry, I tacked that ribbon down to the page with sticky tape :)}

FANCY PANTS “HAPPY TOGETHER” THEME SET: I just love the colors of this line … the rich browns and teals with beige and white. Soooo pretty in person!

So that’s my latest Memory Works haul. If you’d like to purchase any of these items or check all the other scrapbook eye candy we carry, just check out MY WEBSITE and let me know if you have any questions. You can leave a comment here, or e-mail me: scrapbookobsession(at)gmail(dot)com. Have a great week!

Memory Works: Basic Grey Wander, Pyrus & Jovial!

The day that you get a box full of new BASIC GREY in the mail is a very good day indeed!

To be truthful, I wasn’t 100% hopeful because, although the 3 new lines I ordered from MEMORY WORKS looked really good online, I have to admit to being disappointed with some of their recent lines once I saw them in person.

However, that was not the case this time … I was super impressed with these 3 ~ wahooooo!

The one I ordered the most of was Basic Grey “Wander,” which is their new travel line. I’ve always been a sucker for primary colors (one reason I love our new “ELE.MENT.ARY” line so much), and the colors in this line did not disappoint.

Here is the “Wander” Doily, which is a sheet of intricately die cut 12×12 paper. I think this one just begs to be cut apart and used as strips, don’t you? I could see cutting it straight along the color lines, or even mixing 2 or 3 of the colors on one strip, like the red, light blue, and butter yellow. Or making skinny strips and layering them … Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Here are the Chip Stickers, Pieces, and Small Details all together …

These are the Wander “Small Details” decorative stickers. They’re on pop dots so they’ll be raised off your page. I love the versatile shapes and also how different they are from any other sticker out there … very original.

These are the Wander “Pieces” taken out of the package you saw above and spread out so you can get a good look at them. Aren’t they darling? Again, I’m loving the colors of these, and how they’re different than the million other travel-themed die cuts we’ve seen over and over. I like that some give you room for journaling and others are purely decorative.

Here are the Wander “Chip Stickers,” again taken out of the package you saw above for a better look. You get 4 sheets of chipboard stickers. As always with Basic Grey, the quality of these is top-notch, made of thick cardboard in rich colors. I think the little car, bus, and planes shapes are stinkin’ adorable.

.
.
.

These are the Wander “Elements” stickers. You get a 12×12 sheet of thick, cardstock stickers which include so many shapes AND borders.

And finally, here are the 8 papers you get in the exclusive Memory Works “Theme Set” of Wander by Basic Grey.

Front side …

… and back side. I hate to keep harping on the colors, but that’s what really stands out for me with the Wander line. They’re are so rich and so versatile. They’ll go with photos from just about any kind of trip and as you can see, there are some really easy-to-use designs here from the subtle, almost-solids to the bright patterns. It’s just a great mixture of papers.

If you’d like to purchase any or all the Wander collection by Basic Grey, please click HERE and I’d love to get it ordered for you :) These are only some of the BG “Wander” items we carry; there are several other things like buttons, fancy brads, cloth and felt stickers, office tabs, etc.

=================

Okay, now let’s take a look at Basic Grey “Pyrus.”

These are the Pyrus “Epoxy” stickers, which are a nice variety of flexible, kind of bubbled stickers with cute phrases about gratitude and memories. The basic intent of this line is, of course, Thanksgiving, but this sticker pack could sure be used on everyday layouts, thank you cards, and more.

Here are the papers from the Memory Works exclusive “Theme Set,” with 8 gorgeous papers. They are mainly earth-tones but there are pops of color like turquoise and deep green. I like how they aren’t your typical fall leaves, turkeys, and pumpkins but instead leaf designs, pears, flowers, and swirls.

Here are the back sides of the same 8 papers. When papers are double-sided like this, I usually end up buying 2 sets because I don’t want to sacrifice one side for the other … I want to use both! {Very smart move with those double-sided papers, you sneaky little Basic Grey!}

===============

Alright, finally I’m going to show you some of the Basic Grey “Jovial” line, which is themed to use for your holiday scrapbooking.

I HAD to get this Jovial “Doily” die cut paper. I put it on top of a medium blue paper so you can really see how intricate it is. The poinsettias are so pretty and one cool thing is you can even cut around those and just use the other flowers and leaves for a non-holiday layout.

Here are the Jovial “Small Details” 3-D stickers, similar to the ones I showed you for Wander. They are on a pop-dot so they’ll be somewhat raised from the page. They are really cute and you can see how well they go with the Jovial papers.

Speaking of Jovial papers, LOL! Here are the 8 papers you get in the Memory Works exclusive Jovial “Theme Set.”

Oh. My Gosh! These colors are SO rich and SO pretty, I can’t get over it! I love the use of the blacks and browns to kind of bring all that Christmas red and green down to earth.

… and the other side of the same 8 papers. Again, many of the papers can be used on everyday layouts because they don’t have an overtly holiday theme and there are colors beyond just the red and green of so many other holiday lines out this year.

=================

I’m hoping I’ve got you craving these 3 new lines by Basic Grey! If I do, please come order from me at MY WEBSITE :) I would love to help you get a Basic Grey box in the mail like I did.

Believe me, it will make your day, LOL!

What do you think of these 3 new lines by Basic Grey?? Have you bought any yet or do you plan to?
